amiibo is a line of NFC figurines, released in 2014 by Nintendo. Originally designed for the Wii U (and later supporting the Nintendo 3DS and Switch), they connect to the console and add additional content to select games. In May 2015, a Pac-Man amiibo was released as part of the Super Smash Bros. line.

Uses in Games for Pac-Man amiibo[]

  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U / Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Allows a trainable Pac-Man that can level up and be taught moves.
  • Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+: Gives players 2 Pac-Man-themed jets.
  • Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Unlocks a Pac-Man-themed costume for use with Miis.
  • Yoshi's Wooly World: Unlocks a Pac-Man-themed Yarn Yoshi to play as.
  • Super Mario Maker: Gives a Mystery Mushroom in the 8-Bit version that once grabbed by Mario, gives him the appearance of Pac-Man. Several sound effects are also replaced by Pac-Man ones. His appearance is based off of the Japanese version of Pac-Land, albeit without the hat. He transforms into his sprite from the original arcade game when running, crouching or taunting. This costume can also be randomly unlocked without the amiibo from the 100-Mario challenge.
  • Taiko no Tatsujin: Atsumete ☆ Tomodachi Daisakusen!: Unlocks Eat'Em Up! as a track, alongside Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures artwork for the Kisekae Shoot mode.
  • Little Nightmares: Complete Edition: Unlocks a PAC-MAN themed costume.

Most other games with amiibo support can also use the Pac-Man amiibo, but it will only do something generic, with no Pac-Man-specific function.
