"WELCOME TO PACMAN'S WORLD. LET'S HAVE FUN WITH PAC-MAN.
LET'S GO TO BLOCK TOWN." |
Block Town is the first world in Pac-Mania. It is labelled as easy, and can be chosen at the level select screen, but lacks a Courage Bonus. The game speed is also considerably slower than the rest of the game.
The level is made of many LEGO-like blocks. In the U.S. version, the player starts with five ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, Clyde, and Sue. The first round of the Japanese version (which is absent in the U.S. release) does not feature Sue. During the second loop of the game, two Funkys and one Spunky join the rest of the ghosts, but they lack the ability to jump. Despite looping infinitely, this maze lacks tunnels.
Trivia[]
- The Sega Master System version of Pac-Mania features a secret "Coin World" stage, reusing the layout of Block Town. The level is unlocked by competing the first level without eating any Power Pellets, then eating a coin that spawns in place of the Fruit. Coin World does not appear in any other version of the game.
- In the Pac-Man Collection port, Jungly Steps reuses Block Town's theme.
- This song's theme was remixed in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, as well as its sequel, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
- The song "L・O・V・E" by Rumi Shishido is a remix of the Block Town theme with added lyrics. The song was commissioned by Namco for use in the Taiko no Tatsujin series (debuting in the game Taiko no Tatsujin: Tobikkiri! Anime Special).[1]
- The Bricks theme in Pac-Man 99 is based on Block Town, specifically the red, white, and blue variant.
- Block Town is thematically similar to World 0 of Pac-Man Arrangement (1996). Both have walls made of colorful blocks.
