Butane Pain is the third Tree Tops stage, and the 8th level overall, in Pac-Man World 2 and its remake, Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac.
This level has a nighttime environment in which the sun has already set below the horizon, leaving only a faint glow of the sun on the horizon. As in the preceding level, it features saws, but it also adds butane grills on the tree-like platforms and some thin ropes to balance on. Bats and spiders are first seen here, along with the Pac-Cubs seen in previous levels.
Trivia[]
- This level features a secret area that can be used to obtain a large amount of extra lives. To access it, the player must bounce off of the blue-colored B-Doing into the hallowed-out tree stump; a series of trampolines are hidden within the stump, which leads to an area containing eight extra lives and wedges of health.
- There is a shortcut at the beginning of the stage, accessed by running diagonally to the right side of the red B-Doing. This path leads directly to the room with eight extra lives, and can be useful for the Time Trial.
