Clie (クリエ Kurie), originally known as Sue, is a Pac-Person who was introduced in Pac-Man World 2. She is the owner of the Arcade in Pac-Village.
In Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, she is referred to with her Japanese name. She also receives a redesign; her hair is styled in a bun, and she does not wear lipstick.
History[]
Pac-Man World series[]
Pac-Man World 2[]
- Main article: Pac-Man World 2
Sue's first appearance in the series is in Pac-Man World 2. She can be found inside Pac-Village's Arcade. When Pac-Man enters the Arcade for the first time, Sue will introduce the various attractions found there and tell him how to unlock them. She will also unlock the game's first maze for free.
In the Japanese version of the game, Sue's name is changed to "Clie."
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac[]
- Main article: Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac
Now referred to with her Japanese name, Clie reprises her role as the manager of the Arcade in Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac. In addition to the arcade games and Jukebox, the Arcade now contains several Gashapon and a TV for viewing cutscenes. Clie is one of three villagers to appear in Pac-Village at the very start of the game, with the other two being Professor Pac and Nova. She is also one of many townspeople that celebrate Pac-Man's triumph over Spooky in the game's ending cutscene.
If the Sonic the Hedgehog Collaboration DLC is obtained, Pac-Man must talk to Clie in order to access two of the gifts he received from Sonic, namely the Pac-Sonic arcade cabinet and the "A Gift from Sonic" Gashapon.
Clie is also one of several Pac-People who provide Missions for Pac-Man to complete. All of her Missions unlock items for her Arcade, including arcade cabinets, music tracks for the Jukebox, and new Gashapon. She gives Missions for Pac-Village, Sharks Everywhere, and every boss level except for Spooky, Legendary Story, and Flying Dark Shadow. Clie also gives Missions for the three levels included in the Sonic the Hedgehog DLC.
In addition, the game has three collectable Gashapon figures that depict Clie: a base figure named "Clie," a silver variant named "Clie (Silver)," and a gold variant named "Clie (Gold)." Clie (Silver) is obtained from the Melon Crate in Haunted Boardwalk, and the other two are obtained from the "Pac-Village" Gashapon in Clie's Arcade.
Pac-Man Pinball Advance[]
- Main article: Pac-Man Pinball Advance
Sue appears in Pac-Man Pinball Advance as one of the eight residents of Pac-Land that were kidnapped by the Ghost Gang. The player must save her and the rest of the lost residents to beat the game.
Appearance[]
Clie is a Pac-Person with yellow skin and purple hair. In the original Pac-Man World 2, she wears pink gloves, purple boots, and a polka dot apron. She also uses lipstick and sports a hairdo resembling whipped cream.
Clie was redesigned for Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac. She no longer wears lipstick, and her hair is now styled in a bun. Although she still wears purple boots, her gloves are now purple. Her apron now has purple stripes; a rectangular, purple pocket; and a waistband.
Trivia[]
- Clie's original name, Sue, is shared with a purple Ghost originating from Ms. Pac-Man. This may be a reason as to why she was renamed in the Japanese version of Pac-Man World 2 and in Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac.
- Clie was originally planned to run the smoothie shop in Pac-Village, with her original name being Smoothie Sue. This may explain certain aspects of her original design, such as her hairdo. When the smoothie mechanic got scrapped, she was repurposed into the owner of the Arcade.[1]
