Count Pacula is a canceled arcade game, planned to be released by Bally Midway in 1983. Documents relating to the game were found and preserved by The Strong Museum of Play. Due to its dark and grim nature, it was likely canceled very early on, and may have never entered full development.

Gameplay[]

The game was to be a video game-pinball hybrid, very similar to Baby Pac-Man. Instead of ghosts, Count Pacula is chased by the Pac-Man family holding wooden stakes - Pac-Man, Mrs. Pac-Man, Baby Pac-Man, and a newly-created "Cousin Six Pac". Upon eating a Power Pellet, Pacula could bite the good Pacs and temporarily turn them gray. When a Pac-family member was in the gray state, they would briefly help Pacula and bite the others.

Trivia[]

  • As the design documents are dated December 1982, Count Pacula was almost certainly based on the Hanna-Barbera episode (which aired in October of 1982) rather than the other way around.
