Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, known in Japan as Pac-World (パックワールド Pakkuwārudo) is a Nintendo 3DS game, developed by Inti Creates and published by Bandai Namco Games in 2013.

Despite sharing its name and box art with another Pac-Man game released the same year, it is a completely different game than said title, and was developed by a different company.

Gameplay[]

This game is a basic 2D platformer - somewhat like a simplified version of a prior 3DS game, Pac-Man Tilt. The player navigates Pacster to the end of the level, while collecting Pac-Dots along the way. Pac-Man has a "flutter-jump", allowing him to hover in the air for a few seconds, and he can eat ghosts without the use of a Power Pellet. Every level ends in a boss battle, where Pac-Man fights against a giant Netherworld creature.

Story[]

Lord Betrayus and his minions steal the Tree of Life. Pac-Man, Cylindria, and Spiral have to postpone their usual evening activity of eating one hundred Pac-It-In Burgers, and must return the tree to Pac-World. The Ghost Gang also assist in the adventure.

Trivia[]

  • In Pac-Man World Re-Pac, Pac-Man gains a Hover Jump ability similar to his jump in this game. It is unknown if the ability was intentionally reused from Ghostly Adventures, or if it was just coincidentally similar.
  • Outside of its branding, the 3DS version of Ghostly Adventures has effectively no connection to the "console versions" of the game whatsoever. While previous "alternate" versions of Pac-Man games have considerable deviations from other versions - such as the SNES version of Pac-In-Time and the GBA port of Pac-Man World 2 - aspects such as the story and control mechanics are generally retained; which Ghostly Adventures 3DS does not.
  • Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 would later be released on the 3DS; unlike the first entry, its 3DS release was largely identical to the home console versions.
  • Early American prints of the game included a glow-in-the-dark mini poster in the game case. Later reprints did not include the poster.
