History[]

Pac-Man 256/Pac-Man 256+[]

Glitchy appears at a later point in the game. They are able to teleport to different parts of the maze, even when they vulnerable or frozen in place. When Glitchy teleports, they disappear into—and later reappear from—a clutter of characters like those from the Glitch. These characters are just a particle effect, meaning they can't actually harm Pac-Man like the actual Glitch does.

Glitchy reappears in Pac-Man 256+. They retain the behavior they had in the original game.

A group of Glitchys appears on Pac-Man Pop!'s world map. They are found at a partially glitched area near the end of the map.

Trivia[]

  • Glitchy is the only ghost in Pac-Man 256 to have not appeared in a prior Pac-Man title.
  • When viewed in Pac-Man 256's Ghost records, Glitchy is shown as a black with multiple splotches of color, making them reminiscent of the original Pac-Man's kill screen. This version of Glitchy does not appear in Pac-Man 256+ as that version does not have a records menu.
  • Glitchy's in-game design was slightly altered in Pac-Man 256+:
    • The colors that Glitchy can cycle through in Pac-Man 256 are red, pink, cyan, and orange, corresponding to the colors of the original four Ghosts. Pac-Man 256+ adds three more colors Glitchy can change into: purple, green, and gray.
      • Additionally, in Pac-Man 256+, Glitchy will continue flashing different colors when they are vulnerable. They do not do this in Pac-Man 256; instead, they remain dark blue when vulnerable, like the rest of the Ghosts do.
    • In Pac-Man 256, a trail of glitchy characters emanates from Glitchy as they move. This particle effect is not present in Pac-Man 256+.
