Pac-Man Wiki

Inky's Blade-o-Matic is the second boss level, and the 9th level overall, in Pac-Man World 2. A heavily altered version of this level appears in the game's remake, Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, under the name known as Inky's Whimsy. In this boss, the player must defeat Inky, who pilots his Saw; in the remake, the Saw is replaced by Inky's Owl Mecha. This boss battle takes place in the Tree Tops.

Object[]

Inky's Saw is a device Inky uses. He uses a mechanical ghost with its bottom part an automatic circle saw. To deal damage, Pac-Man must Rev-Roll into the mech several times.

Attacks[]

First Inky will attack you by firing buzz-saws at you. Use the tree platform's ramps to rev-roll into his machine's wooden body twice. An alternative is to use the B-doings on the outer four platforms to butt-bounce on his glass cockpit twice.

Next, he will shift tactics and attempt to knock you off the platform with his machine. Rev-rolling is still possible but not recommended when Inky's rotating blades are above the ramps. It is wiser to use the B-Doings to attack his glass cockpit, removing the risk of him ramming you. Do this twice.

Finally, he will go back to firing saw blades at you and once in a while try to knock you off. Rev-rolling him twice or butt-bouncing onto his cockpit twice will finish Inky's machine before it explodes from excessive damage. Upon Inky's defeat, Pac-Man will be rewarded the Golden Strawberry.

It should be noted in the Japanese version of the level, there is a diamond-shaped safety net in the event of falling off the central platform whereas the American version only has rope bridges from one outer platform to the central platform.

Re-Pac[]

Inky can be seen playing with the Golden Strawberry. Upon arriving, Pac-Man orders Inky to give the fruit back, and he'll let him go. However, Inky declines, stating that Spooky ordered him to take Pac-Man down. With that being said, Inky grabs the Golden Strawberry and hops into his mecha Owl to fight. While Pac-Man fights the owl, bats can be seen flying into the arena. The Mecha Owl has only one attack, which involves throwing out its feather blades at Pac-Man. it can alternate between throwing singular feathers or throwing them in waves. however, it would soon run out of feathers, and it would need to take some time to reload all of its feathers. Pac-Man can take this opportunity to butt-bounce on the trampoline so he can flip-kick the owl in the face. With every damage the owl takes, it will fly to a different post, and the attack pattern will remain the same. If the player tries to attack while it still has feathers, it would turn its head away to avoid getting hit and fly to a different post, so the only time you attack the owl is when it is reloading.

After Pac-Man damages the Owl three times, the Owl loses its goggles. Not giving up, Inky uses the golden strawberry and feeds it to the Owl, encasing its body in gold. Now, its eyes have become searchlights, but its eyes have turned into red cores. The fight continues as normal, but the Mecha Owl can now alternate between sending waves of feathers high or low, and can move from post to continue attacking. But the more notable difference is that its eyes can shine a spotlight in certain areas and can blast a laser out of its beak if Pac-Man stays in its line of sight. The only way to beat the Owl Mecha is to wait until it reloads and flip kick its face. When the Owl is hit 2 times, the Owl would lose one of its eyes, but continue to shine with only one eye left. Once the Owl is hit 1 more time, it loses both eyes and malfunctions before collapsing on the platform. Inky was left in shock before it exploded, leaving behind the golden strawberry for Pac-Man to collect.
