Pac-Man Wiki

Letter Labyrinth: Pac-Man Edition, often referred to shorthand as just Letter Labyrinth, is an iOS game released in 2010 by Namco Bandai Games America. It was removed from the App Store on March 30, 2015, alongside numerous other Pac-Man mobile releases.

Gameplay[]

A gibberish, scrambled anagram of a word or phrase appears on a grid. The player must determine the unscrambled word, then connect all of the letter tiles (with one swipe of their finger) to complete the stage. When an answer is solved, the grid will turn into a Pac-Man maze; with Pac-Man following the player's path, eating through dots and a Ghost.

Letter Labyrinth also features a "Calculation Mode", in which the player descrambles calculations from a set of numbers. There is also an additional "Scramble" mode, the exact details of which are unknown.

Letter Labyrinth S is a variant of Letter Labyrinth: Pac-Man Edition; it was released on Facebook in 2011 as part of the "S" game series. However, the exact differences between it and the iOS release are currently unknown; presumably, the game was a timed "score attack" version of Letter Labyrinth.

Trivia[]

  • Contrary to the name, there is seemingly no non-Pac-Man edition of Letter Labyrinth. The app description implies that the featuring of Pac-Man was to make the game stand out from other anagram iOS games (stating that "As only he can, PAC-MAN has gobbled up your old and tired iPhone anagram games").
  • A "Lite" demo of the game was added to the Namco Games Portal compilation app in a later update.
  • The game is somewhat comparable to the later-released Wordscapes app from 2017; though in that game, multiple anagrams are present in each puzzle, whereas Letter Labyrinth only has one word per level.
