This page details video game releases in the Galaxian series (as well as the Galaga games) that feature Pac-Man-related content.
Galaxian/Galaga overview[]
Galaxian refers to a series of space-shooting video games, originally created by Namco in 1979. The series is also comprised of the Galaga games.
Galaxian/Galaga is often paired with the Pac-Man series, with both franchises often being dubbed as Namco's flagship brands by outlets. Due to the series' connections, numerous references to Pac-Man have appeared within the Galaxian games, and vice-versa. Most notably, the Galaxian Flagship appears as a bonus item in the original Pac-Man arcade game, and returns as a power-up in Pac & Pal.
Several compilations focused on both Pac-Man and Galaga games have been released; namely Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions for the Nintendo 3DS, and the arcade games Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga - Class of 1981 and World's Largest Pac-Man. Both titles are also frequently part of the Namco Museum series. Additionally, some Pac-Man and Galaga media is released as a "pair" of related titles; examples include Pac-Man Championship Edition, which was followed by Galaga Legions, and Pac-Man Chomp Mania, which was followed by Galaga Assault.
Games[]
Galaga '88 (Sharp X68000, 1990)[]
- The Sharp X68000 port of Galaga '88 features an additional "Arrange Mode" with altered bonus rounds, replacing the aliens with other Namco enemies. The second bonus round in Arrange Mode features the Ghosts from Pac-Man. This mode does not appear in the arcade original or any further home ports.
Galaga Legions DX (2011)[]
- In Galaga Legions DX, one type of enemy formation is designed to resemble Pac-Man, displayed with a yellow highlight.
- The Type 7 skin in Galaga Legions DX alters the player and enemy graphics to use sprites from Pac-Man, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and Pac-Land.
Galaga: Tekken 20th Anniversary Edition (2015)[]
- Pac-Man is one of several Namco characters who can appear if the player rescues a Captured Fighter. Once he appears, he clear any enemies on the top half of the screen by eating them.
Galaga Wars (2016)[]
- Pac-Man makes an appearance in Galaga Wars as part of a paid DLC pack. The DLC changes the player ship into Pac-Man and enemies into the Ghosts (including the main Ghost Gang alongside Sue, Funky, and Spunky); in addition to special power-ups.
In-Game Abilities[]
- Glitch - A power-up that will flash a maze onto the Ghosts to take down large formations.
- Light - A power-up that will shoot a light at the enemies.
- Power Pellet - The ghosts will turn vulnerable, allowing Pac-Man to eat them.
