Magna-mover[1], also known as Crate Lifter,[2] is an invincible enemy that appears in Pac-Man World and Pac-Man World Re-Pac. It is a large floating machine with a round platform on top of it and a giant magnet attached to its underside.

Magna-mover appears in two of the Factory Area's levels: Perilous Pipes and Under Pressure. It serves the dual function of being both an obstacle and a moving platform. Pac-Man is able to ride a magna-mover by standing on its platform; certain areas require Pac-Man to do this in order to cross a bottomless pit or access a new area. Other level segments place magna-movers above solid ground. If Pac-Man walks under one, it will attack by slamming down on the ground, creating a blue shockwave in the process. Some magna-movers are seen carrying the metallic crates that adorn the factory. They will drop their crates if Pac-Man runs under them or Butt-Bounces on top of them.

Magna-mover is the only enemy in the game to appear in a Bonus Round, namely the Factory Area's. There, a group of them serve as obstacles that Pac-Man must dodge as he traverses from one end of the stage to the other.

Crate Lifter appears in Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac as a collectable Gashapon figure. Its figure is obtained from the "PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC Collection 3" machine in Pac-Village's Arcade.

Trivia[]

  • According to Pac-Man World designer Scott Rogers, magna-movers could be destroyed with a Butt-Bounce at one point in development. This was later changed to prevent players from accidentally impeding their own progress by destroying magna-movers that are intended to be ridden on.[3]
