Matic Entretenimento (often shortened to just Matic) is an arcade manufacturer based in Santo André, Brazil. The company produced several Namco-licensed games for the Brazilian market, some of which were later resold by Bandai Namco Amusement America.

Overview[]

The majority of Matic's Pac-Man releases use Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures branding. While this is not uncommon for similar, earlier redemption games featuring Pac-Man, Matic's machines were released several years after the show had ended production; making them somewhat of an anomaly.

Matic produced the following Pac-Man or Namco-related games:

  • Wadaiko Master (2014) - Localized version of Taiko no Tatsujin: Momoiro Version.
  • ‎‎Pac-Man Air Hockey (2016) - A Pac-Man-themed air hockey table. Sold in both Ghostly Adventures and 8-bit designs; the latter was later sold in the U.S.
  • Pac-Man Hammer (2017) - A Whac-A-Mole-like game with six Ghost "moles" to hit.
  • Pac-Man (pool table) (2017) - A Pac-Man-themed billiards table; later sold in the U.S., but seemingly had limited distribution.
  • Pac-Man Against Ghosts Hammer (2019) - A Whac-A-Mole-like game with three Ghost "moles" to hit.

Trivia[]

  • Despite later possessing the official Namco license, Matic previously sold bootleg Pac-Man "multicade" machines. The machine in question features a modified version of the Pac-Man 25th Anniversary logo, alongside artwork from games like Donkey Kong Jr. and Space Invaders; a Matic logo is visible on the side artwork.[1]
  • The circuit board for the U.S. version of Pac-Man Air Hockey features "MATIC" engraved into one corner; indicating that the game was imported to the U.S. from Brazil (rather than the other way around).
