Merchant Ambassador, also known as Ambassador Games, is a toy manufacturer founded in 2003, based in New Kowloon, Hong Kong. The company is best known for making tabletop home adaptions of arcade and carnival games. The company would produce a line of Pac-Man tabletop games beginning in August of 2024.
Pac-Man releases[]
Most (if not all) of Merchant Ambassador's Pac-Man products are extensively rebranded versions of games from the company's "Electronic Arcade" range, given new Pac-Man-themed designs and sound effects. Some of the Pac-Man releases were produced alongside Sonic the Hedgehog variants of the same games. The products appear to have been released worldwide; being distributed across North America, Europe, and Asia (including Japan).
- Pac-Man Arcade Pinball - Rebranded version of Electronic Arcade Pinball, using the same layout as that machine.
- Pac-Man Arcade Pro Pinball - Uses a different layout than the previous model, and claims to have "10 professional grade pinball features". A generic Electronic Arcade Pro Pinball version was produced concurrently with the Pac-Man version's release.
- Pac-Man Arcade Air Hockey - Rebranded version of Electronic Arcade Air Hockey. Features a neon lighted playfield showing the Pac-Man maze.
- Pac-Man Arcade Alley Ball - Rebranded version of Electronic Arcade Alley Ball; it is an alley roller or Skee-Ball-based game.
- Pac-Man Arcade Basketball - Rebranded version of Electronic Arcade Basketball.
- Pac-Man Arcade Claw Crane - Rebranded version of Electronic Arcade Claw Crane. The physical crane is changed to a Pac-Man facing downward.
- Some promotional photos show this machine as coming with "Power Pellet" capsules as prizes, while others show it as featuring Ghosts and Cherries. It is unknown if these are alternate SKUs, or if one is an early, unreleased design (with the actual released model being undetermined).
- Pac-Man Arcade Smash A Ghost - Rebranded version of Electronic Arcade Smash-A-Mole. It is a Whac-A-Mole-based game with Ghosts instead of moles; the mallets are shaped like Pac-Man. There are two sides of 10 ghosts each, allowing for 1 or 2 players.
Trivia[]
- A few Canadian retailers have listings for two additional games: Pac-Man Electronic Arcade Sea Battle Game and Pac-Man Electronic Arcade Slot Machine. However, both listings show images of games from the original "Electronic Arcade" range, suggesting these may have been listed in error.[1][2]
- The exact date/order of release for most Ambassador Pac-Man titles is unknown, and seems to vary across regions. However, the two pinball machines appear to have been the first ones released in the United States.
