"No Pets Allowed... Especially Monsters! Part I" is the third episode of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. It premiered on June 19th, 2013.
Plot[]
"When Pac and friends keep defeating all his ghosts, Betrayus, with the help of the demented Dr. Buttocks, decides to clone an army of Netherworld monsters. Lucky for Pac, one little monster isn’t really a monster at heart." |
The episode opens with a shot of President Spheros' limousine being escorted by police. Inside the limo, Spheros tells Pac, Spiral, and Cylindria that they are going to meet a well-known scientist who has returned from retirement to create ghost-fighting weapons, such as the PSC's. Pac quickly deduces that the President is referring to Sir Cumference, an inventor who played a pivotal role in defeating Betrayus' rebellion during Pac-World War I. He and his friends start discussing about the elderly scientist when they are suddenly alerted to a ghost invasion from the Ghost Attack Detection Signal, another of Sir Cumference's inventions, and it doesn't take long for the trio to realize that they are the main targets.
Two police officers step in to try to control the invasion, but they get possessed by Cyclops Ghosts. The possessed officers cover the limousine in slime, preventing the vehicle from being able to stop. Fortunately, Pac steps in and stops the limo by sliding his own feet across the road just before it crashes into a building. Pac gives a power berry to each of his two friends before flying off. With the aid of the berries, Pac is able to eat all the Ghosts and stop the invasion.
President Spheros leads the trio down a subterranean hallway, explaining that Sir Cumference's lab is located under the Round House. Suddenly, the hallway rumbles, and a large cloud of smoke comes out of the lab. Pac, Spiral, Cylindria rush in to see if everything's okay, but they are unable to see with all the smoke. Pac decides to solve their problem by sucking in all the smoke, causing him to cough violently. It's at this point when Sir Cumference introduces himself to the trio. He also introduces his robotic lab assistant, Grinder. President Spheros then enters the lab and asks about the source of the smoke, to which Sir C explains that he was simply making some very hot chili. When Cylindria introduces herself and her friends, Sir Cumference immediately recognizes Pac and reveals that he, like Spheros, was friends with the yellow Pac-Worlder's parents. He even lets Pac try his spicy chili. After Pac finishes the chili, Sir C reveals that he has been working on an upgraded PSC; however, the weapon is too large and heavy for him to control, forcing Pac to shut it off before it causes mayhem.
Meanwhile, in the Netherworld, Betrayus is impatiently waiting for the arrival of another scientist, Dr. Buttocks. He lashes out at Butt-ler, Buttocks' twin brother, for not having the scientist come earlier. Once Dr. Buttocks does arrive, he and Butt-ler trade insults until Betrayus straightens them up and demands to know the mad scientist's plan for defeating Pac. Dr. Buttocks explains that he intends to fight the yellow Pac-Worlder with mutant monsters, reasoning that Pac can't eat them like he can with ghosts. He also plans to use his new invention, the Mutant Monster Multiplier, to create a whole army of them. He demonstrates his invention by cloning a Stalker, which initially impresses Betrayus; however, the two monsters run away in terror after seeing each other. Unfazed by this misfortune, Dr. Buttocks decides to clone a nearby Gargoyle next, which proves to be a much better choice. Betrayus, now fully convinces, snatches the Monster Multiplier and declares his intentions to create a monster army to invade Pac-World.
Having seen Betrayus what plans to do, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde go to the dorms that night to warn Pac and his friends. After they all wake up, Cylindria tells Pac to call Sir Cumference to see if he has any weapons they could use. Sir C, having just awoken, informs Pac that he doesn't have anything yet but that he will get to work soon. Within Maze 256, Buttocks creates several more Gargoyle Clones, with Betrayus inspecting everything from his throne room. Among the legion, a smaller monster named Fuzbitz wants to join the invasion. When Betrayus orders him to return to the Netherworld, Fuzbitz disobeys and instead hitches a ride on one of the Gargoyles.
Pac, Spiral, and Cylindria meet Dr. Buttocks and his army outside the maze entrance and begin their battle. Pac chooses to take out Dr. Buttocks, the easiest target, first, but he is soon forced to dodge the Gargoyles' fiery attacks. On the ground, Spiral and Cylindria eat the Power Berries Pac had given them earlier. Spiral's Power Berry gives him the ability to use martial arts to fight the Gargoyles directly. Cylindria gains the ability to float in the air, allowing her to dodge the monster attacks and to trick the Gargoyles into attacking each other. Pac, meanwhile, finds himself about to get singed by two more monsters; however, he is able to transform into Ice Pac just in time, allowing him to evade the attack. The Gargoyles then collide into each and crash into the ground.
Sir Cumference then arrives on the scene in the Pac-nana, a banana-themed walking vehicle, to analyze the situation. He scans the two Gargoyles on the ground and realizes that they are clones with a limited amount energy. Sure enough, just as the scientist reaches this conclusion, the two Gargoyles disappear due to a lack of energy. When Spiral and Cylindria ask him for monster-fighting weapons, Sir C admits that he still doesn't have any yet.
Pac manages to take care of the final Gargoyle; however, he runs out of Berry Power and, without any more Power Berries to eat, starts falling out of the sky. He lands on the roof of the dorm building where he encounters Fuzbitz. Startled, Fuzbitz growls defensively, causing Pac to instinctively jump back. Unfortunately, he ends up falling off the roof and is forced to grab onto a ledge. Spiral and Cylindria rush to help Pac before he falls off. Suddenly, Fuzbitz approaches the ledge, making Pac even more nervous; however, instead of attacking, Fuzbitz grabs the yellow Pac-Worlder's hand and pulls him back up onto the roof. Spiral and Cylindria join Pac on the roof, relieved their friend is alright. They all look up at the sky and notice a Gargoyle with a spy camera, which had been recording the entire scene, flying in the night sky.
After the Gargoyle leaves, the Ghost Gang joins the trio on the roof. Clyde formally introduces Pac to Fuzbitz, explaining that some monsters are actually kind-hearted. Blinky adds on that these monsters don't like living under Betrayus' rule. Spiral and Cylindria worry about where the small monster will go since he can't return to the Netherworld. It is only when Clyde reveals that Fuzbitz is an orphan that Pac decides to take him in as a pet. The only issue, as Cylindria and Spiral point out, is that pets are not allowed in the dorms, so Pac decides to try and sneak him in.
Following the failure of their plan, Betrayus and Dr. Buttocks have a heated argument. After Betrayus threatens to banish the mad scientist "to the fiery bog for eternity," Dr. Buttocks relents, swears allegiance, and announces that he has a new plan. Betrayus ultimately decides to keep him around, much to Butt-ler's dismay.

Trivia[]
- This is the first episode in which Butt-ler has a speaking role.
- This is also the first episode to show Butt-ler wearing a bowler hat, one that he keeps on for the rest of the series.
- This episode has Grinder have fairly quieter beeps when compared to his "speech" for the rest of the series.
- When Dr. Buttocks picks up his glasses after Betrayus knocked him down, the left frame is bent. However, when Dr. Buttocks shows off one of his mutant monsters a few seconds later, his glasses are no longer bent.
- Storyboards for this episode by David Earl show that:
- Butt-ler's original name was "Butt-Face," with "Butt-ler" being an insulting nickname from Betrayus.[2] By the time "Jurassic Pac" entered production, however, the character's name had been changed to "Butt-ler."[3]
- The scene where the Ghost Gang watch Dr. Buttocks demonstrate his new invention was cut from its initial length. Originally, Blinky, Inky, and Clyde would have let go of Pinky's mouth out of fear of enraging her.[4] In the final episode, the scene transitions after they cover her mouth.
