Pac-Man II is an arcade game released (?) around 1981 by IRECSA.
Overview[]
The Pac-Man II cabinet was produced by IRECSA, a distributor of "recreational" (or "recreativas") Bally Midway arcade machines in Spain. The machine repurposes artwork from IRECSA's release of Pac-Man, using a similar shape to the Midway "cabaret" machine model.
The game has been stated to be a variation of the original Pac-Man; however, it isn't explicitly clear if this refers to the game software itself. Assuming the software is altered, is speculated that the game is a hack of Pac-Man. Besides this, no further information regarding Pac-Man II is known; it is possible that the machine was canceled entirely, but had test-marketed or "mock-up" models created for it.
Trivia[]
- The order of the ghosts on the front of the cabinet is identical to that seen on the Pac-Man promotional flyer from Midway.[1]
- Some versions of the Pac-Man II machine use white coloring behind the central artwork instead of yellow. Despite this, one documented machine appears to still use yellow paint.
