Pac-Man II is an arcade game released (?) around 1981 by IRECSA.

Overview[]

The Pac-Man II cabinet was produced by IRECSA, a distributor of "recreational" (or "recreativas") Bally Midway arcade machines in Spain. The machine repurposes artwork from IRECSA's release of Pac-Man, using a similar shape to the Midway "cabaret" machine model.

The game has been stated to be a variation of the original Pac-Man; however, it isn't explicitly clear if this refers to the game software itself. Assuming the software is altered, is speculated that the game is a hack of Pac-Man. Besides this, no further information regarding Pac-Man II is known; it is possible that the machine was canceled entirely, but had test-marketed or "mock-up" models created for it.

Trivia[]

  • The order of the ghosts on the front of the cabinet is identical to that seen on the Pac-Man promotional flyer from Midway.[1]
    • This particular flyer was reprinted by IRECSA when they distributed Pac-Man in Spain.[2]
    • Notably, the colors of the ghosts on the cabinet do not match how they appear in the original game or on the flyer. Inky is colored red; Pinky is colored yellow; and both Blinky and Clyde are colored blue.
  • Some versions of the Pac-Man II machine use white coloring behind the central artwork instead of yellow. Despite this, one documented machine appears to still use yellow paint.
