For the video game alternatively known as "Pac-Panic", see Pac-Attack.

Pac-Man Panic! (パックマンパニック Pakkuman Panikku) is a multiplayer pinball machine, developed by Chinese company Guangzhou Wahlap Technology in 2019. The game would later be published in North America by Amusement Source International.

In Japan, the game was released concurrently with a non-Pac-Man-themed version titled Super Panic Ball (スーパーパニックボール Sūpā Panikku Bōru), published by Bandai Namco Amusement.[2] The Pac-Man Panic! version was also released on the Japanese market.[3]

Overview[]

The Pac-Man Panic! machine has two pinball playfields (on opposing ends of the cabinet), and supports up to four players (but there is no one-player mode). Players compete to launch balls into each others' play areas, attempting to shoot into their opponents' goal. There is a spinning Pac-Man in the center of both playfields, which alters its speed at random; the spinning area can catch balls and launch them into either playfield area. Periodically throughout the game, a large number of balls will release onto the playfield (similar to the miniature pucks in Pac-Man Smash); which players must quickly deflect. Whoever gets the highest score in the game is declared the winner.

Trivia[]

  • Pac-Man Panic was initially exclusive to Round1 arcade locations in the United States.[4] It was later made available for wider distribution by Amusement Source International.[5]
  • Some versions of Pac-Man Panic feature ticket redemption, with all tickets being awarded to the winning player.[1] It is unclear if this applies to all machine models.
  • A very similar pinball machine titled Space Invaders Pinball Jam was released shortly before Pac-Man Panic's announcement. Due to how closely they were released from each other, it is likely that both games were just coincidentally similar.
  • The central artwork design for Pac-Man Panic was also used for the Amazon Alexa program Pac-Man Stories.
