Pac-Man Wiki

Pac-Match Party is a puzzle game released by Namco Networks in 2010, in celebration of Pac-Man's 30th Anniversary. It is the sequel to the 2001 mobile game PAC-Match!. The game was first released as an Adobe Flash online game, and was later ported to iOS devices.

Gameplay[]

Pac-Match Party is a "match 3" puzzle game. Each level features a grid-based screen filled with Pac-Men, Ghosts, cherries, cakes and wrapped presents. A few tiles across the board will be colored in solid purple; the player must clear the tiles highlighted in purple to advance to the next stage. Matching rows of presents will drop a "gift" for the player; these act as power-ups that can be used to clear large amounts of tiles. If a row of three Ghosts is cleared directly across from a Pac-Man tile, that Pac-Man will eat the ghosts, earning more points.

The game also features animated cutscenes between levels, similar to the intermissions in the original Pac-Man arcade game.

Trivia[]

  • The Flash version was published on several Namco-operated websites, including pacman.com and namcogames.com.[2][3] The actual game files are not currently supported by the Wayback Machine's in-browser emulation, though the game can be run in some separate emulators such as Flashpoint.
  • The game's main theme uses notation reminiscent of the Block Town theme from Pac-Mania. The cutscenes use unaltered tracks from Pac-Mania and the 2005 version of Pac-Man Arrangement.
  • The 2011 game Pac-Chomp! could be seen as a successor to Pac-Match Party, as both feature similar gameplay mechanics.
