Pac-Man Wiki

Pactones was a mobile ringtone service distributed through Verizon Wireless, operated by Namco-America from 2004 to 2005. The service was superseded by Pac-Man's Arcade Corner in 2005.

Overview[]

Pactones featured downloadable ringtones of songs from Namco's video games (from the early '80s and beyond), in addition to classical songs and music from popular artists at the time. In addition to setting the songs as their ringtone(s), users could also listen to the music in a "PacPlayer" built in to the Pactones app. Additionally, ringtones could be gifted to other Pactones users as "presents". The service was run by a fictitious "DJ Pac-Man", who provided introductory messages upon opening the webpage or mobile app.[1]

The ringtones themselves had to be purchased individually. Ringtones were sold (in USD) for $1.99 per song, with discounts for purchasing in bulk (e.g. $6.99 for 4 songs, $11.99 for 8 songs).
