That Smarts! is the 5th episode of Season 2 of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. It aired on June 16, 2014.

Episode Plot[]

"In the absence of Sir C, Pacopolis needs a new genius, especially after Buttocks hacks Sir C’s computer and builds a giant indestructible robot based on Grinder’s design. Will the Brain Berry that Pac gobbles help him save the day, or will he end up being too smart for his own good?"

Spiral complains about how Ms. Globular gave the whole class a pop quiz after a 3 day weekend and Pac asks Grinder if he remembered to reset the password protection on Sir C.’s computer which Grinder nods yes to. It then cuts to Dr. Buttocks gloating on how hacking into Sir C.’s computer was child’s play due to him setting the password as “I heart Grinder” and continues to look at Grinder’s blueprints and namely, Grinder’s electromagnetic heart and promptly summons a giant evil version of Grinder known as Grinder-tron which impresses both Butt-ler and Betrayus.

Pac and Cyli prepare to study together but suddenly Grinder-tron shows up wreaking havoc in the city with the army being ineffective at subduing the mechanical menace, the trio then show up on hover boards to take on the robot. Pac eats a power berry to turn into Titanium Pac and spin Grinder-tron’s head, which Dr. Buttocks promptly counters by flicking him away into the army and Pac quickly eats another power berry that causes him to fly and attempts to fly into Grinder-tron; this also does not work as Grinder-tron blows him away where Grinder proceeds to catch him. It then cuts to the netherworld where Betrayus laughs at how well the plan is going where Butt-ler then changes to another camera that shows Sir C. dating Aunt Spheria, which aggravates Betrayus, and telling Sir C to keep his hands off her, which briefly confuses Dr. Buttocks before Betrayus corrects himself.

Grinder-tron grabs onto two giant coils from the power plant to drain all the power in Pacopolis and ends up causing a massive blackout and proceeds to use a mega EMP blast on the army alongside Cyli and Spiral. Pac proceeds to chow down on a Super Speed Berry (which somehow causes him to fly) to save the air force and Cyli and Spiral. It then cuts back to the Netherworld again where Betrayus is still upset over losing Spheria to Sir C. but Butt-ler tells him to go back to doing the invasion to which Betrayus summons his ghost army against the city while it is powerless. It then cuts back to Pac flying around and trying to attack Grinder-tron to no avail and even worse, the ghost army promptly shows up to cause more problems for our heroes to which Pac uses an Ice Berry to become Ice-Pac who ends up getting subdued by Grinder-tron’s massive fan. Pac asks Grinder if he knows a way to contact to Sir C. but Grinder does not know a way to connect to him, Cyli then notices that Grinder is the sole electronic device who’s functional during the invasion while Pac and Spiral complain about not being smart enough to understand that. This inspires Grinder to take the trio to the lab for a secret berry Sir C. has been working on for this kind of situation. Pac struggles to open the box but Cyli ends up opening the box for him revealing a Brain Berry which Pac promptly eats and proceeds to freak out and do various motions before becoming a new form.

Pac has transformed into Brainiac Pac and proceeds to state the question why Grinder wasn’t affected by the EMP blast while everything else was. He then proceeds to do a check up on Grinder and deduces that Grinder has a heart that makes him not reliant on other power sources and inspires Brainiac Pac to do something big. It then cuts again to Betrayus angrily watching Sir C. and Spheria and confusing Dr. Buttocks again with his words before resuming in destroying the Roundhouse alongside Spheros. It then cuts to Brainiac Pac working on Grinder while Spiral and Cyli watch with the latter finding him cute before it yet again cuts back to the Netherworld where Betrayus continues to angrily watch the date and confuses Dr. Buttocks again where he decides he’s had enough of taking Betrayus’ “orders” and goes for ruling earth himself. It then cuts to Brainiac Pac showing of the Giganto Mega Grinder Battle Bot Mk. II alongside showing off his own heart to everyone else so he can function independently of the power outage and proceeds to fly off in the mech to save the roundhouse and confront Grinder-tron.

Grinder-tron fights with Giganto Mega Grinder who deflects all of his attacks and starts to crawl away due to Dr. Buttocks feeling intellectually humiliated to Brainiac Pac which ends up cutting away to Betrayus saying a similar remark watching yet again the same video of Sir C. and Spheria dating before it cuts back to the various ghosts wreaking havoc in Pacopolis and then quickly goes to a cowardly Dr. Buttocks fleeing from Brainiac Pac. But at the worst possible time, Brainiac Pac ends up reverting to normal Pac who somehow ends up forgetting how to work Giganto Mega Grinder who looks around confused as to why he stopped moving and Pac mentions how he suddenly doesn’t feel so smart which Dr. Buttocks somehow manages to overhear and regain his formerly lost ego starts attacking. Pac tries to concentrate, realizes he can use his city to his advantage, and somehow manages to relearn how to pilot Giganto Mega Grinder again where Cyli and Spiral are piloting Grinder who has fused himself with a hoverbike and asks the two to follow him.

It yet again cuts back to Betrayus crying over the same dating video again seeing Sir C. and Spheria pointing at a heart shaped constellation with it metaphorically breaking his heart as Butt-ler comforts him about it. It then cuts to Pac fleeing from Dr. Buttocks who is struggling with the layout, concludes that he is clumsy with controlling Grinder-tron, and as such proceeds to trick the robot into beating itself up by sliming itself, crashing multiple times in a lunch area, crashing into a pipe and getting trapped in various tubes. Pac then tells his friends to serve Dr. Buttocks some humble pie which they load up the Giganto Mega Grinder with random objects which Dr. Buttocks counters with spinning like a tornado. Pac then consumes another berry that enables him to fly and make Grinder-tron spin so fast he drills into the ground. Back at the Netherworld, Butt-ler continues to console Betrayus on losing Spheria before Grinder-tron shows up and squashing both of them where it shows a dizzy Dr. Buttocks and an enraged Betrayus calling him a dimwitted failure while Pac somehow manages to watch and laughs about and wondering if he could beat Dr. Buttocks with the berry power before Spiral reminds him that there are still ghosts rampaging about.

It then cuts back again to Betrayus crying about the date going well and mentions how the flame in his heart is never to be rekindled which inspires Pac to use Giganto Mega Grinder to repower the city. He then uses another power berry to eat up the ghosts terrorizing it while flying, Cyli and Spiral use a ghost gun to trap the ghosts and the Pac-Army use their military to defeat the ghosts and the day is saved. Sir C. and Spheria come back from their date while Pac says that everything was under control while he was gone as the couple walk away in love with each other.
