"The Adventure Begins, Part II" is the second episode of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. It premiered on June 15th, 2013.

Plot[]

"PacWorld[sic] is under siege by ghosts and there is little Pac-Man can do about it without fresh berries from the Tree Of Life, which is hidden somewhere in the Netherworld and guarded not only by legions of ghosts, but fierce monsters! Pac strikes a deal with four wacky, wise-cracking ghosts, Inky, Blinky, Pinky & Clyde, to lead him into the Netherworld to try and find the tree and save PacWorld. Unfortunately, things don’t go exactly as planned and it is nearly game over for our hero and his two best friends!"

— Official episode description[1]

After the ghosts managed to successfully capture the Tree of Life in the previous episode, President Spheros makes an address to Pac-World from the Round House. He tells his citizens not to panic and to show bravery, but he also warns them to stay cautious as the planet experiences tremors. As he and his friends witness the President's office collapse around them, Pac immediately suggests venturing into the Nether Realm to take back the Tree. Pac's friends, Spiral and Cylindria, are initially skeptical since, without the Tree, they would have no Power Berries to defend themselves, but Spheros is quick to remind them that they still have the Berries from Pac's potted plant. When questioned on how they would find the Tree, Pac remembers the deal he made with a certain group of four ghosts.

Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde are hesitant to help Pac because they fear what Betrayus will do to them if he finds out. After Pac threatens to eat them, they decide to help, but only on one condition: they want their bodies back, so they can leave the Nether Realm. Spheros, not wanting to risk destroying the four ghosts in an untested procedure, initially refuses, but he soon relents when the Ghost Gang pretend to forget how to get back.

Pac, Spiral, Cylindria, and the Ghost Gang enter Maze 256 to find the entrance to the Nether Realm. After aimlessly wandering in the maze for a while, partially due to the fact that the Ghost Gang did actually forget how to get back, they find the chamber and call President Spheros. Spheros warns the three that the Berries will protect them only for a limited amount of time; thus, they need to retrieve the Tree quickly before they succumb to the apparently unspeakable effects of the Nether Realm's climate. Pac and his friends eat the last three Berries from the potted plant before they and the Ghost Gang enter the Nether Realm.

Blinky leads the group across a shaky staircase that turns out to be a camouflaged Dragon. The Dragon attempts to attack them, but Pac manages to fend off the beast by biting its tail. In an attempt to get Pac off its tail, the Dragon ends up lighting its own tail on fire before crashing into a cliff, allowing the group to escape. Although they are out of danger at the moment, Clyde realizes that they had made enough noise to alert all the ghosts and Slug Cams in the vicinity. Acting fast, the Ghosts cover Pac, Spiral, and Cylindria in sewage to try to disguise them as ghosts, much to the Pac-Worlders' dismay. The group continues to trek through the Nether Realm until they encounter a Guardian Ghost. When the Guardian Ghost immediately sees through the Pac-Worlders' "disguise," the Ghost Gang try to explain that they had actually captured them as prisoners. Unconvinced, the Guardian accuses them of trying to help the PacWorlders try and take back the Tree of Life, but the Ghost Gang simply laugh the allegation off. Upon realizing how absurd his claim seemed, the Guardian Ghost joins them in their laughter, allowing Pac and his friends to slip by unnoticed. However, the Guardian Ghost quickly realizes he had been tricked once the Ghost Gang suddenly leaves with them.

The Guardian assembles a legion of ghosts and chases the PacWorlders, now no longer covered in sewage, into a rocky maze set above lava. Instead of running, Pac decides to turn around and fight back; he eats the legion's leader and chases the ghosts that tried to attack him. Cylindria and Spiral manage to defend themselves, too, revealing that they brought Plasma Sucking Cannons, weapons specifically designed to capture and trap ghosts. Pinky starts to develop feelings for Pac after the threat is neutralized; however, she and others are forced to move on after the Plasma Sucking Cannons break and the ghosts within them are set free.

The Ghost Gang leads Pac and his friends into Betrayus' castle, which is where the Tree of Life is being held. Pac eventually spots the Tree, but before he can go up to it, the Ghost Gang warns him that it is guarded by a ferocious three-headed poodle named Fluffy. Despite Fluffy's aggressive nature, Pac and his friends prepare to confront him. The fight ends before it even begins, however, as a large cage suddenly descends upon the three PacWorlders, trapping them. Betrayus then makes his presence known, claiming the three as his prisoners. Betrayus has the PacWorlders locked up in his dungeon. He then hijacks PacWorld's airwaves to gloat about having captured both the civilization's Tree and its last hope. Meanwhile, without the Tree of Life, Pacopolis has descended into a chaotic, apocalyptic state.

Betrayus taunts Pac by insulting his parents and even planning to withhold the things he stole from them. He then reveals that Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde were working for him the entire time and that the deal they made was little more than a ruse. To make matters worse, the Power Berries' effects have run out, causing Spiral, Cylindria, and Pac to start shrinking. After bringing them to his throne room, Betrayus gives the Ghost Gang a special assignment: to serve as executioners and eliminate Pac once and for all. Although they were all complacent with Betrayus' plan, the four ghosts felt guilty about betraying Pac and were even more conflicted about having to execute him. The Ghost Gang soon returns to Pac's cell, with Blinky officially reading out Betrayus' decree to execute them. A Slug Cam is also present in the dungeon, so Betrayus can see the execution for himself. All four ghosts aim their weapons at Pac; however, just before firing, Pinky reverses her weapon so that it hits the Slug Cam instead, preventing Betrayus from watching. She does this so she can ask Pac if he has a crush on her. Pac initially denies having a crush, much to Pinky's disappointment. But when the execution is about to restart, Cylindria decides to seize on the opportunity and "reminds" Pac how they broke up because he had fallen for someone else. With some prompting from Spiral, Pac plays along, fulling swinging Pinky over to his side. More Slug Cams arrive to record the execution; however, they are all shot by the Ghost Gang. Pinky then frees the three Pac-Worlders, and Clyde tells them how to deal with Fluffy.

Spiral and Cylindria distract Fluffy with a large bone while Pac tries to climb the Tree to get more Power Berries. Just as his friends are about to meet their demise, Pac manages to grab and eat a Power Berry. The Berry makes Pac grow to an enormous size, scaring Fluffy away. Pac gives a Power Berry to both of his friends, returning them to normal. The trio then grab the Tree of Life and fly out the castle. Meanwhile, Betrayus makes his way down to the dungeon. He hopes to see the execution in-person, only to find the Ghost Gang tied up and locked in what was supposed to be Pac's cell. Horrified upon realizing what was happened, Betrayus orders all the ghosts to hunt down Pac and his friends. Afterwards, he reprimands Fluffy for failing to guard the Tree and orders him to find it. When Betrayus tries to take away Fluffy's bone, the demon poodle lashes out and bites Betrayus instead.

As Pac, Spiral, and Cylindria fly the Tree out of the Nether Realm, the Dragon they encountered before returns to get its revenge on Pac. But with a Power Berry thrown to him by Cylindria, Pac defeats the Dragon with a fiery burp. Shortly after the Dragon's defeat, the trio soon realizes they are being chased by a horde of ghosts. They make it to the door leading to PacWorld, but the Tree of Life gets stuck. As the ghosts get closer, Pac and his friends desperately try to pull the Tree through. After a bit of struggle, three finally get the Tree through to the other side and seal the door shut just before the ghosts can get to them.

With the Tree of Life safely returned, Pac-World returns to normal and starts to rebuild. In honor of their heroic actions, President Spheros awards Spiral, Cylindria, and Pac with medals. In addition, Spheros also dubs Pac with a new title: "Pac-Man." Even though they were ultimately victorious, Spheros reminds the new heroes that Betrayus will eventually strike back. The episode ends with Betrayus reading a get-well card from Fluffy's middle head while he recovers from his injuries.
