The Sandbox Evolution is a game released in 2016 by Pixowl. It is a "sandbox" game where the player can create and share game worlds online. In March of 2017, a Pac-Man content pack was added to the game.

The Sandbox Evolution's Pac-Man content later served as basis for Pac-Man Maker, a dedicated mobile game that was only released in Canada.

Overview[]

In The Sandbox Evolution, the player can utilize a multitude of different game functions to create levels. After the player finishes creating their level, it can be uploaded online for others to play. The Pac-Man assets are predominantly designed to allow the user to create custom mazes; however, Pac-Man elements can also be mixed with the other Sandbox Evolution assets to create unique gameplay concepts. The Pac-Man elements mainly mimic mechanics of the original Pac-Man arcade game, with some functions also based on Super Pac-Man and Pac-Man 256.

List of Pac-Man elements[]

Player characters[]

Ghosts[]

  • Blinky - Uses behavior similar to the arcade ghost AI.
  • Pinky - Uses behavior similar to the arcade ghost AI.
  • Inky - Uses behavior similar to the arcade ghost AI.
  • Clyde - Uses behavior similar to the arcade ghost AI.
  • Spunky - Uses behavior similar to Pac-Man 256 and/or the Sleeping Ghosts from Pac-Man Championship Edition DX.
  • Punky - Initially motionless, but his eyes constantly look around. If Pac-Man is caught in his eyes' path, he will rush straight until hitting a wall (which will make him stay in place). This behavior is similar to Pinky's in Pac-Man 256, though is not exact.
  • Funky - Moves back-and-forth horizontally, changing directions when he hits a wall.
  • Sue - Similar behavior to Funky, but attempts to align herself with Pac-Man's position above/below her.
  • Tim - Added via a later update; moves back-and-forth vertically.

Punky is a newly-created character for The Sandbox Evolution, not appearing in any prior Pac-Man media.
