A Token in Pac-Man World 2
Tokens (also known as Level Complete Tokens,[1] Slot Medals, and Coins) are frequently appearing items in the Pac-Man World series. They take the form of round gold coins, similar to the ones commonly used in arcades. Although they usually serve as a type of collectible, their exact function differs across games in the series.
History[]
Pac-Man World[]

The item in question first appears in Pac-Man World, in which it is known as a Level Complete Token.[1] As its name suggests, it marks the end of every non-boss level. If one is touched by Pac-Man, the level he is on will be completed, and he will be sent to the Weigh-In Machine.

Tokens reappear in Pac-Man World 2, marking their first appearance as an in-game collectible. Each non-boss level has 8 Tokens to collect. If all the Pac-Dots and Fruit of a particular level are collected, the player is rewarded with one bonus Token. The player can also earn a bonus Token in Time Trial Mode by beating a level's default best time. In total, there are 189 Tokens to collect.
Tokens are unique among this game's collectibles in that they are used to unlock arcade games and other facilities in Pac-Village. These features—and their Token requirements—are listed in the following table:
| Reward | Token requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pac-Man | ||
| Pac-Attack | ||
| Jukebox | ||

Pac-Man World 2 (Game Boy Advance)[]

In the Game Boy Advance version of Pac-Man World 2, Tokens assume their function from Pac-Man World. They are found at the end of each non-boss stage, and touching one will complete the level Pac-Man is in.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac[]
- Main article: Pac-Man World Re-Pac
Tokens appear in Pac-Man World Re-Pac under the name Slot Medals. Unlike in the original Pac-Man World, Slot Medals do not denote the end of a level; instead, they are collectibles that are used to activate the slot machine portion of the Weigh-In Machine. Each Slot Medal is worth one spin on the Weigh-In Machine. Each non-Boss level has 3 Slot Medals to collect; moreover, up to 2 additional Slot Medals can be earned if Pac-Man enters a Bonus Stage. With the exception of Toc-Man's Lair, Slot Medals can be also be collected in boss levels. Notably, it is possible to obtain more than three Slot Medals in HMS Windbag; the first three are found during the chase sequence, and any additional Slot Medals are collected from the bubbles that spawn after Windbag takes damage.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac introduces a new item called the Goal Coin[2] to fulfill the role Level Complete Tokens played in the original Pac-Man World. They are red in color, and each of its sides depicts Pac-Man's 2D form inset in a yellow circle. Goal Coins also appear in Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, where they have the same function.
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac[]
- Main article: Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac
Tokens return as a collectible in Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, this time being referred to as Coins. Coins are still collected in the game's non-boss levels, but instead of unlocking things to do in Pac-Village, like in original Pac-Man World 2, Coins are used exclusively for purchasing figures from the Gashapon in Clie's Arcade. To receive a figure from a Gashapon, 3 Coins must be paid. If a duplicate figure is received, the player is allowed to refund it for the amount of Coins they paid.
