Volcanic Panic is the second Volcano level, and the 15th level overall, in Pac-Man World 2 and its remake, Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac. This level takes place in the main vent of the volcano. In this level, there are three switches to make the lava drain down to the bottom to go to the magma chamber, which leads to Magma Opus.
Walkthrough[]
Open the crates, grab the steel ball and everything a run for the next room. There are 3 switches here. Hit the first one and Pac-Dots and two ghosts will appear. Ignore the ghosts and eat the Pac-Dots as fast as possible. Now hit the other green switch and two Power Pellets appear. Grab one and eat the ghosts, now jump to the geyser platform and across and eat the ghost there too. The orange switch from earlier just makes the geysers go down for a few seconds, but if the player were fast enough, the steel ball protects Pac-Man from it so don't bother. In the next room jump across all the platforms ignoring the Stony, but if the player has a steel ball power-up, Stony can be beaten. There is a token in the air, jump and grab it, and move on to the checkpoint. Rev Roll across like the sign says and hit the next checkpoint. Grab the steel ball, then run through everything and go across the platforms to the switch, then the lava will go down and back into the magma chamber, and then run again to the second switch which will lower the lava again, then the Pac-Chain will lead Pac-Man back to the Magma chamber. Run across the lava and hit the checkpoint. Now Rev Roll across the big gap and hit another checkpoint. Jump to the moving platform and start revving. When it reaches the ramp, Rev Roll over to the falling platform then jump onto the ledge. Now Pac-Man must shimmy across and backward jump the rev button to avoid the geysers in the wall. Watch for fire rocks as well. It's best to keep moving or a fire rock might jump out at Pac-Man. The Galaxian is at the end, along with a green switch. Hit the switch, then complete the maze level. Once again, go back to shimmying. At the end of the part, jump backward onto the falling platform. The Pac-Dot chain will lead back to the magma chamber, and going down. Quickly get through the last area before the lava rises to the finish.
Trivia[]
- In this level, the number of fruits increase sequentially by one; there is 1 Galaxian, 2 Oranges, 3 Melons, 4 Cherries, 5 Apples, and 6 Strawberries.
- This is the only level in the game in which the player traverses downward. In this level, there are 3 main switches that will lower the lava level, and players need to get to the very bottom where the goal is located.
- This level has a Shortcut in the lava pool behind the Stony on the left, allowing the player to complete the time trial in a few seconds.
- If Pac-Man briefly remains near the goal after the lava reaches the top, the lava will not reach the final step that has the goal on it. The lava stream will then go down, and missed items can be recollected.
